Lermoos is a municipality in Tyrol, Austria, located at the intersection of the Lechtal Alps, Ammergau Alps, and Wetterstein Mountains. The village lies in the Lermooser Moos, a former marshland, with its highest point being the Grubigstein (2223 meters). Lermoos, one of the oldest villages in the Außerfern region, was first mentioned in 1020 and held an important economic position due to its location along the Fern Pass route. This role declined after better roads were built over the Arlberg. After World War II, Lermoos developed into a major tourist destination, offering skiing in the Zugspitz Arena and summer hiking. The opening of the Lermooser Tunnel in 1984 diverted through-traffic away from the village. Lermoos is easily accessible via the Außerfern Railway Line.
